Referred to as mechanical binding, spiral binding, and coil binding wire. Spiral binding wire has many advantages with a substantial amount of sizes, colors, and finishes.
High quality spiral binding wire must follow a strict set of quality standards. A good spiral wire must have a consistent tensile strength and have a high quality coating in order to form a continuous wire spiral pitch. Having an excessively hard wire will cause the wire to not form properly causing downtime and jams on spiral binding equipment. High tensile wire can wear out parts prematurely as well. Wire that is to soft and not having a high enough tensile will normally coil correctly but the dexterity of the coil is compromised when shipped. The wire can become oval in shape and deformed easily.
Spiral binding wire finishes are also important. Having a clean friction reducing finish will extend the life of your parts and coil easier at a higher forming speed.
We commonly coat Spiral Wires with PET, Nylon, Tin, and Zinc Galvanized coatings. Spiral Wire comes in a variety of colors, sizes, and coatings to make optimal impact in appearance, protection against corrosion, and reduced friction on tools during the forming process.
