Filaments are fixed to the brush block using special wires called staple wires. The choice of material and selected hardness of the wire depends on the application and preference of the brush manufacture.

Twisted-in-Wire Brushes
Bottle Brushes and similar types use wire to fix the filament and serve as the brush block at the same time. This wire is round and is available Galvanized in numerous thicknesses.
